2024 BIANNUAL SUMMARY IMPACT: INTAKES & OUTCOMES

  • 2024: Total Stray Hearts Rescues Taken In: 221

  • 2024: Total Stray Hearts Rescues Adopted: 103

  • 2024: Total Stray Hearts Rescues Fostered: 86

  • 2024: Total Pounds of free pet food distributed by our Food Bank: 11,000

  • 2024: Total Taos County Pets Vaccinated/Microchipped through our SHOTS N CHIPS clinics: 149

  • 2024: Increased Adoption Rate: 47%

  • 2024: Reduced our Transfer Rate by 25% from 2023

  • 2024: Total Taos County Pets Spayed/Neutered: 202

2024 FUNDING, OUTREACH, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & IMPACT

  • 2024: Stray Hearts continued to receive core funding support from local - and national - foundations, including The American Endowment Foundation, Frederick Leonhardt Foundation, The Carroll Petrie Foundation, Petco Love, The Alexander Foundation, Animal Rescue Aid (ARA), Summerlee Foundation, as well as longstanding support from individual donors, dedicated volunteer time, estate & planned gifts, as well as donor-advised funds. This funding supported general operating expenses, as well as programmatic costs such as new kennels, behavioral work, foster support.

  • 2024: Stray Hearts continued several new Development, fundraising and strategic support programs including: Stray Hearts Guardians (a monthly donor program), Stray Hearts Angels (a planned giving society), a vehicle donation program (C.A.R.S. Charitable Auto Resource Services), our blog TAILS FROM THE SHELTER, and our Adoption Sponsorship program.

  • 2024: Stray Hearts continued our community Events Sponsorship program, including an all-inclusive Stray Hearts TCA Movie Night Fundraiser series with corporate sponsor Nusenda Credit Union, as well as local restaurants, retailers and more.

  • 2024: Stray Hearts continued to operate our popular Community Pet Food Bank, a vital resource for Taos County pet owners to receive free dog & cat food for their owned pets, distributing 11,000 pounds of free to those in need.

  • 2024: Stray Hearts continued to receive positive 501(c)3 transparency scores from trusted third party non-profit ranking sources, including Guidestar.org and Charity Navigator
